Dr Alan Coffman was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, a small oil and ranching community 40 miles north of Tulsa.  In his youth he volunteered and worked for Clinkenbeard Veterinary Clinic and Triple C Ranch for Dr. Clinkenbeard starting at the age of 12.  He graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1992 leaving Oklahoma to fulfill a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Fresno, California area.  Upon returning he completed his Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in Animal Science (Pre-Vet Emphasis) and a minor in zoology in 1998.  His wife Amy also graduated from BYU in Elementary Education leaving a special place in his heart for teachers and educators.  Dr. Coffman received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Oklahoma State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Coffman has been an employee of Allen Veterinary Hospital since 1996 and has worked here ever since.

He and Amy have two sons, Samuel has served a two year mission in Bogata, Columbia and is currently attending BYU- Idaho and is a junior majoring in Pre Vet Med. Nathan, is a senior at Allen High School and is an active member of the Vet Tech program and very active in a multitude of sports.  He will be serving a mission in the near future.  Both boys have also completed the work and time to be Eagle Scouts. Dr. Coffman is an active member in his Church singing tenor and bass in the choir and serving in different capacities.  He volunteers as a watchdog and as a community helper for the local elementary schools.  Dr. Coffman has received the Lifetime PTA award for his countless hours helping in the schools.  He also serves on the Allen Animal Shelter committee.  He has a great love for Scouting and earned his Eagle scout and has preciously been a scoutmaster for 10 years.

Dr. Coffman has taken up triathlons and has successfully completed 12 Ironman 70.3 and 2 Ironman 140.6 within the last 5 years.  He has one dog, Gizmo (French bulldog), four turtles, and several fish.  He loves practicing veterinary medicine and the community of Allen, Texas but most of all he loves his family.
